Are you Ready?????
Let’s Go………..
Sakakini Palace :
- Sakakini Palace is one of the oldest palaces in Egypt. It was built in 1897 by Habib Pasha Sakakini.
- The palace is located in Sakakini Square in the center of Cairo, specifically in the densely populated area of Al-Zaher, and the vicinity of the palace was later known as the Sakakini neighborhood.
- The Sakakini Palace was built by Italian architects who came specifically to participate in its construction, and different styles from around the world overlap in it, and it is considered a model of Rococo art.
Sakakini Pasha:
- The area was named after the building of palace after the owner of the palace, Habib Pasha al-Sakakini (Gabriel Habib al-Sakakini) (1841-1923).
- He was born in Damascus, Syria, and arrived in Egypt at the age of 16-17 to take up a job in the nascent Suez Canal Company in Port Said.

- For the next four years, this Syrian worked for her on a paltry sum of 3-4 French francs a month. He eventually moved to Cairo. It was for economic development, not health reasons, as was rumored, Legend has it that Habib al-Sakakini caught the attention of Khedive Ismail when he shipped parcels of hungry cats on camels to the rat-infested Suez Canal.
- Within days, the problem of this pestilence of rodents was solved. Due to his ability to solve quickly, innovation and initiative, the Khedive used this noble Syrian and assigned him the daunting task of completing the construction of the Khedive Opera. He worked under the Italian architect Pietro Avoscani.
- Al-Sakakini made a shift system, working 3 shifts in 8 hours each for the next 90 days.
- He succeeded and completed the construction work of the Opera House in time for the arrival and visit of European kings, to Egypt to attend the most luxurious celebration of the opening of the Suez Canal on 17 November 1869.
- The Khedive was generous in an unlimited way. Henceforth construction and public works contracts could not fail because they were managed by and on the Sakakini method. At the age of 39, Habib Sakakini attained the Ottoman title of 'Bek', and was approved in Constantinople by Sultan Abdülhamid. Two decades later, on 12 March 1901, Rome's Leon XIII conferred on Sakakini the papal title 'Count' in recognition of his services to his community.
- And they eventually became one of the wealthy contractors at that time, and he participated in a prominent role in the work of digging the Suez Canal, and from the title that he was called (Al-Sakakini), it is said that he accumulated his wealth before working in contracting from the trade of knives and weapons. The palace was built on a piece of land granted to him on a pool of land called the pool of Sheikh Qamzihi al-Zaher.
Horror stories of the locals:
- Some are afraid to approach the palace because they think it is haunted by ghosts! Until it was included in the list of the most famous places of terror in Cairo.
- And they say that in the late hours of the night they find the palace revolving around itself and changing directions.
- and its lights turn on and off suddenly at late times as well.
- and they hear the sounds of screaming and crying from inside the palace and the movement of furniture inside the palace at night.
- and some of them saw the ghost of his son, the
owner of the palace, who died in the palace on the main balcony of her room!!!!!!!
